Temporary use of public space (occupation fee)

Permission and the occupation fee for placing tables and chairs, a stall or a stand in front of a business.

Time: You will be informed about your application within 30 days at the latest (Law No. 3071, Art. 7).
Fee: Occupation fee (per m²): Akyaka neighbourhood 7 ₺ · other neighbourhoods 4 ₺ (2026 fee schedule, VAT included)

Who can apply

Business owners and anyone wishing to use a public space temporarily.

Required documents

Written request (dilekçe) stating the location, size and duration of the area to be used

How it works

Apply to the Municipal Police Directorate (Zabıta) with a written request.
If permission is granted, the occupation duty or fee (işgaliye) is assessed according to the area used and the duration, and collected against a receipt.

Good to know

Occupation without permission is also subject to the duty; in addition, an administrative fine is imposed under Article 38 of the Misdemeanours Law.
