Senior Citizens’ Week, celebrated from 1 to 8 October, is an important occasion to honour our elderly, the most precious members of our society, and to remember their contribution. In the message he issued for this meaningful week, the Mayor of Ula, Mehmet Caner, emphasised the importance of the place our elderly hold in the life of our community.
Mayor Mehmet Caner said: “With the knowledge, wisdom and experience they have carried from the past to the present, our elderly are the guides of our society. Thanks to their labour and sacrifices, we have a strong society today. We will continue to do our part to make their lives easier and to help them lead happier and more peaceful lives.”
Underlining the values that elderly people bring to society, Caner stated that the Municipality of Ula is expanding its services for the elderly every day and that these services are being delivered in every part of the district. He noted that health, social and cultural projects for the elderly in particular reflect the district’s determination to become an age-friendly town.
A more peaceful Ula for our elderly
Under the leadership of Mayor Mehmet Caner, projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly continue in Ula. Stating that the municipality’s home-care services, social-assistance work and cultural activities for the elderly help them lead healthier and more active lives, Caner said that they will always stand by the elderly.
Finally, Mehmet Caner marked Senior Citizens’ Week by congratulating all our elders and wishing them health, peace and happiness.
