The Mayor of Ula, Mehmet Caner, took part in the October Ordinary Assembly of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. The meeting was held in Ankara and chaired by Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and President of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. Many important items were discussed.
The discussion of matters such as the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, the Union’s organisational regulations, the 2025 performance programme and the budget plays a critical role in the future planning of local governments. The strategic plan will serve as a road map as municipalities across Türkiye set their projects and goals for the future.
Another important item on the agenda was the opening of a liaison office of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye in Brussels. This is regarded as an important step towards strengthening Türkiye’s relations with local governments at international level and building more effective cooperation with municipalities in Europe.
The assembly, which met under the chairmanship of Ekrem İmamoğlu, aims to make the arrangements needed to solve the local problems of municipalities more effectively, strengthen financial management and improve coordination among municipalities across Türkiye.
The Mayor of Ula, Mehmet Caner, who took part in the meeting, made important contributions on behalf of his district and exchanged views on development and improvement work in the region. The importance of the role local governments play in strategic planning was particularly emphasised.
